The table was set using unadorned dinnerware and flatware to bring out the napkin

Of course, any Holmes enthusiast knows about the violin.......

Not exactly tablescaping stuff -
Just a few of the other actors that have played Sherlock over the years:
Mack Sennett, John Barrymore, Raymond Massey, Alan Napier (Batman's butler), George C. Scott, Roger Moore, Leonard Nimoy, Larry Hagman, Peter Cook, Charlton Heston, Michael Caine, John Cleese, Peter O'Toole, Peter Lawford, and Ian McKellan.
You ladies are on a creative roll this week! I love your Sherlock Holmes table. I have a pretty good collection of Sherlock Holmes films and books, but Pat has me beat for sure! Oh, and don't forget about Jeremy Brett as Sherlock Holmes, as well as Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Reginald Owen, and Arthur Wontner (who?). (I'm sure there are others, but these actors are a few more of my favorites.) I still haven't seen the Ian McKellan movie "Mr. Holmes" and I really need to do so. Now you've got me thinking doing a book- or movie-themed table as well!
ReplyDeleteOk you shocked me with this one. I saw the gorgeous napkins and was scrolling thru..loving it. Thinking....little formal, like that, I like that. The BAM, there's a fiddle on the table. Bravo! I love it...You really made my night!
ReplyDeleteIt's always a joy to find a masculine themed table thank you. The napkin is surely the star of the table and the violin is perfect!
ReplyDeleteHi Katie and Pat- I enjoyed this Sherlock Holmes theme today. It would have been my dad's 88th birthday today- he passed away 16 years ago in 2000. He loved Sherlock Holmes- I think this was a little sign from him in heaven that I found your blog and it's theme- so thank you very much!
ReplyDeleteYour artistry really comes through with this table: it's amazing how your choices of plates, flatware and plaid napkins can make a table so masculine and tasteful. It really is quite stunning and your violin and other accents are just perfect for your Sherlock Holmes theme! Well done, ladies!!!! Rosie @ The Magic Hutch
ReplyDeleteThis is perfect and I absolutely love this. So many times tables look too feminine, but this definitely comfortable for the male guests. If I wanted to soften it a bit maybe white carnations in a julip style cup.
ReplyDeleteExcellent ideas that I will be stealing.
