Celebrating An Americana 4th of July Tablescape

For this week's table, Pat took a totally different color direction from the typical red, white, and blue celebration for the 4th of July. She used our inexpensive brown transferware (we apologize that it was made in England and not the United States) and designed a table in brown and beige tones to commemorate our country's beginning.

Flatware is appropriately named "Grand Colonial" by Wallace Silversmith

Pat found the heavy "Woodland" by Fostoria glassware at a local thrift shop and very nearly left them.....she even got them at half-price. The sterling silver goblets and bread/butter plates are on loan from our Cousins.

Pat made small flower arrangements in "Chocolate" Fiesta soup bowls

Sampler Table of Convenience

We know most tablescapers do not like "sampler" tables - you know the ones with a different dish pattern at each place setting. Well, I love them (Pat not as much,) but never do them as often as we would like. However, this week is a different story. I am having some of my dish cupboards and dish storage areas "remodeled" (more like shelves added and "beef-up a bit" to hold more dishes.) I had to move several hundred dishes along with a large curio filled with place settings so the carpenter could work. I just stacked some of the individual place settings on the table that normally stays set, but I also had to clear it so we could be moved it out of the way temporarily. Bottom line, the table was full of individual place settings of assorted patterns......so to make a long story short, this week's table makes lemonade out of lemons, so to speak....

Flatware is 20th Century Baroque Silverplate by Wallace

Ladore by Haviland (1962-1988)

Spring Bouquet by Lenox (1980-1987)

Bell Heather by Royal Doulton (1942-1958). Pat was a founding member of our local Heather Society and is a Past President, so naturally, she had to buy this pattern when she saw it on Ebay.

Belvidere by Lenox (1941-1978)

Carlyle by Royal Doulton (1972-2001)

Revelry by Coalport (1970-1993)

Mandarin by Schumann

Real Old Willow by Royal Doulton (Made in England: 1982-1999, Made in China: from 2004)

Over the top gaudy glassware is "Lady Diamond" by Cristal d'Arques. Pat found them on sale at Ross years ago.

Small diamond pattern candle holders - Pat picks these up whenever and where ever she can find them....

"Lady Diamond" tumblers hold tiny rose flower arrangements

In all fairness to me, and so that you don't think I am absolutely dish nutty, the carpenter is actually here to fix the bathroom that was "destroyed" during an earthquake a few years ago. I asked him to remodel the shelves while he was at it.....

Where it came from:
Assorted Patterned China - anywhere and everywhere I can find it
Glassware - "Lady Diamond" by Cristal d'Arques from Ross Dress For Less
Flatware - "20th Century Baroque" by Wallace Silversmith from Horchow's
Napkin Ring - from Bed, Bath, and Beyond
Napkin and White Overlay - from Pat
Crystal Votive Holders, Silk Roses, Tea Lights, and Candles - Michael's
Star Candle Holders - from assorted Thrift shops

Father's Day 2015 Tablescape

Our Dad was a kind and generous person who loved animals. We always had a house (and yard) full of assorted "critters" when we were growing up. After all of us kids left home (leaving it quiet,) Dad acquired an assortment of birds - much to Mom's dismay - to fill the "noise" loss. When Pat and I were at Pier 1 two weeks ago, we spotted these great parrot plates that we knew immediately were absolutely perfect for Father's Day!
Here's to you, Dad. We miss you.
