Sweet Summer Tablescape

This week's blog features another table that Pat's daughter came up with while she was here "marathon tablesetting" with us a couple weeks ago. It's a simple but sweet Summer table that uses an older accent plate that Pat and I found at Pier 1 years ago.

Flatware is "Image" stainless steel by Spode

The Pier 1 accent plate is "Celeste" - it was available from 2011 through 2014 in a dinner and appetizer plate as well

"Sunflower" Fiesta(ware) was first produced in 2001 and is still an active color

The "Lapis" charger is actually a Fiesta(ware) chop plate.- it is an active pattern with production beginning in 2013

We use these Dollar Tree blue glasses often - they add a lot of color to the table

Fun Flamingo Fiestaware Tablescape

Pat's daughter was here for a marathon tablescaping adventure this weekend and boy, what fun we had! Lots of dishes, lots of place settings, lots of laughs! So this week's table is just one that she came up with (Jennifer loves Fiestaware - needless to say, many of her tables feature it.)
The inspiration for the table came from the napkin. Pat made up the napkins from material I found at JoAnn's several years ago.

Flatware is "Primary" by Noritake - handles are super strong Primastone.

This is a "Tangerine" Fiesta(ware) Salad plate - it was produced starting in 2003 and retired 2018

"White" Fiesta(ware) is an active color with production beginning in 1986 - this is a 9" Luncheon plate

"Flamingo" Fiesta(ware) was produced from 2012 through 2013

Probably my very favorite, the openwork charger is from Maryland China Company

Pat and I found the white lanterns on the 70% off shelf at Michael's a few weeks ago

Modern Prussian Blue and White Table

Six years ago, Pat and I bought a set of simple white rimmed everyday dinnerware from Kohl's to have in our "arsenal" of tablescaping supplies. The idea was to have a basic plate to build or mix a place setting in any style. Needless to say, the dinnerware mostly sat on a shelf and was rarely used. Yes, we pulled it out occasionally and tried to incorporate it into a tablescape, but we were never successful - until today. Using just one accent color and keeping it plain, Pat set this week's table in a modern, sleek and upbeat style.

The simple lines of the flatware follow the simple lines of the dinnerware

The unique napkin rings came from Pier 1 two years ago

Although Mikasa calls this charger "Royal Blue" it is definitely Prussian Blue

Glassware is "Reflections" by Imperial Glass of Ohio from Replacements.com

The centerpiece consists of three small vases of blue silk hydrangeas

Pembroke and Pink Tablescape

Like most of our dinnerware collections, our pattern of Aynsley "Pembroke" was acquired piece by piece. We found it on eBay, at antique stores, consignment shops, Replacements.com - you name it, Pat and I scoured our community and surrounding areas looking to own eight complete place settings. (I loved the pattern never seeing it in person - always in pictures, but when we finally saw it in a cupboard of a dear friend, my heart nearly burst! I had to have it.)

The napkin consists of a single white polyester napkin wrapped inside a pale pink chiffon overlay held together by a pink and silver glass beaded napkin ring from Pier 1

Flatware is "Byzantine" by Yamazaki

The soft pink chargers match the dinnerware perfectly - once again, Pat's sweet husband spray painted eight inexpensive plastic chargers with plastic adhesive spray paint (after roughing them a bit with some sandpaper)

Since the table was designed for a Lady's luncheon, the centerpiece was kept simple - Pat used a strawberry basket that will be filled with fresh strawberries and two bud vases holding pale pink roses
The large shell shaped bowl was used to serve fresh blueberries

Pat likes to use pieces of the dinnerware in different ways - here she used the cigarette holder to hold imitation sugar
