Crab Season (Finally) Starts Tablescape

Crab season has started after two months of delays - bad weather, under weight issues, COVID-19 crisis, and price disparity to name a few problems. So Pat decided to celebrate by setting this week's table getting ready for the first available catch.  (As a vegetarian for almost fifty years and a plant based vegan for the last four years, I will withhold any "social/ethical" comment on the table so that I do not offend those less informed...like my entire family....but that is another story for another time.....)
Pat used the net and charger from last week's table as a base for this week's table

Flatware is "Addison" by Mikasa
The crab bowls  are from Pier 1
The red liner is a "Scarlet" Fiesta(ware) salad plate
Pat followed up with "White" Fiesta(ware)

The charger is "Royal Blue" Color Spectrum by Mikasa

I told Pat that I thought nobody drinks Pabst beer anymore - she didn't care - she wanted the red, white, and blue bottle

One last look at the table

Where it came from:
Centerpiece Candle Holder, Shells, Net, Candles - from Michael's over the years
Glass Balls - from Pier 1 two or three years ago
Driftwood - along the beach....(we live on the California coast)
Charger - "Royal Blue" Color Spectrum by Mikasa from Replacements.com
Dinnerware - "Scarlet" and "White" Fiesta(ware) by Homer Laughlin from Macy's (both are "active" colors and currently available) and Replacements.com
Stainless Steel Crab Bowl - from Pier 1 two or three years ago
Beer Pilsner - from the Dollar Tree (still available)
Flatware - "Addison" by Mikasa from Costco last year
Stainless Steel Crab Napkin Rings - from the Ferndale Emporium (a local store that used to carry lots of kitchen and dining items)
Crab Napkin - from Pier 1 four or five years ago

This week, we will be joining "Tablescape Thursday" at Between Naps on the Porch:  http://betweennapsontheporch.net/

  1. Hi, Pat and Katie,
Love this table! There are so many components that are striking: keeping to the red, white and blue (including the beer bottles!), accenting the stainless steel (those crab bowls are FANTASTIC!), love the centerpiece: everything, actually. Hope all is well up north. My husband and I are staying pretty much sequestered even though SO CA numbers are going down. Have lost my energy for tables right now. I'm hoping I get inspired soon......take care,

  2. Katie, I am the lone vegetarian in my family, too. I understand others and let them have their fun. I do cringe a lot, but privately. The thing that always mystifies the carnivores in my husband's family is how I am completely happy and quite satiated with the "side dishes" only. They always say, "If you don't eat the meat, what will you eat?" And, for 45 years, I have answered, " Everything else!" My late father-in-law,(The King of Carnivores), grew to appreciate that he might get an extra serving of the roast when I demurred! A cute table, as always and I imagine that children who are not against seafood would think the crab dishes and napkin rings were really fun.
