Coming to the End of Summer Tablescape

As Summer is drawing to a conclusion, Pat decided to make the most of the remaining days. She set this week's table using colorful dinnerware that we found at Pier 1 eight or nine years ago. The pattern is called "San Marino" and it is a sturdy, vibrant ironstone that brings life to the table.

Unlike a lot of people, I am not a big fan of a yellow and blue combination, but the addition of a little yellow here, I think, brightens up and adds to the table

The bright white napkin is held by a yellow napkin ring (made from PVC pipe cut into 1" rounds and spray painted with yellow plastic adhesive spray paint)

Summer Hibiscus Tablescape

 

As we were working on this week's table, the sky was overcast with smoke and the air was thick from nearby fires burning in Northern California (not close to us, but still affecting our area.) Pat decided we needed some sunshine - so she pulled out the "sunniest" accent plates that she could find and set the table in bright, upbeat colors to cheer up the day.

Formal Turns Casual Tablescape

Pat challenged herself this week to "do something different" with formal china. She selected Lenox "Interlude" [1975-1985] as the formal dinnerware and mixed it with her favorite everyday china, Fiesta(ware) by Homer Laughin. I've said it before that we are blessed (or should that be cursed, unlucky, obsessed, plagued, fixated, gripped, seized or whatever) with the fact that together we own over 30 different colors of Fiesta(ware.) So, it was easy for Pat to choose a coordinating color to add casualness to a very formal pattern.

Modern styled stainless steel flatware is "Fluence" by Oneida. Not only does it go well with the stainless steel goblets, it complements the platinum trim of the dinnerware

Summer Red and White Tablescape

Pat was sorting through a bunch of tablescaping supplies at her house the other day and found dozens of candles in various colors. But what she found most exciting was the bright red tapers - instantly she came up with the idea/theme for this week's table. 

Once again, for this week's table, Pat thought we needed something bright and cheery since we have had record breaking forest fires, record breaking outbreaks of COVID-19, and record breaking heat waves in our area not to mention the state-wide record breaking drought....I think she is right.

Butterfly Meadow Breakfast Table

Lenox Butterfly Meadow is known all over the world - it is Lenox's most popular everyday/casual pattern, Not only is it durable, it is freezer, microwave. and dishwasher safe. I have had my set since its introduction in 1999. Today, Lenox makes it in a variety of patterns all of them with the signature scalloped edge.

We use "Butterfly Meadow" for breakfast because we have lots of extra pieces that make for a fun table
