Baseball World Series Table

It's that time of year - the World Series is on - not that Pat nor I take a lot of interest in the games, but it is a great excuse for a table design. Here's what she came up with:
The table

Pat placed the settings on a "diamond"
Flatware is matte finish "Vault" by Gourmet Settings

Pat made the baseball-theme napkins

Napkin rings are simple PVC pipe cut into 1" rounds, spray painted black, and small craft baseball bats were attached with hot glue.

The accent plates are "Baseball" by Homer Laughlin

The "stack" consists of the Homer Laughlin "Baseball" accent plate, "Chocolate" Fiesta luncheon plate also by Homer Laughlin, "Cowboy Reflections" beige plate trimmed in brown by Montana Lifestyles, and a "Burgundy" Color Spectrum Charger by Mikasa

Glassware is inexpensive Dollar Store water glass and beer pilsner

We found these neat salt and pepper shakers on eBay - by Hallmark

Peanuts anyone????

Pat's daughter found the small baseball bats through Amazon - we left the blue bands on for the Royals....

And to Alycia Nichols at Tables at Table Twenty-One (Here), "this one's for you....")
Sorry, Alycia, the hat's not blue.....but here's hoping that you are getting better. We couldn't help but think of you as the Royals made it to the Series. We miss you.

Where it came from:
Tablecloth - from (we discovered this site thanks to Alycia - it has hundreds of inexpensive tablecloths, chargers, napkins, etc. - everything to decorate a table and you don't feel like you've spent too much.)

Brown trimmed Dinner Plates - "Cowboy Reflections" by Montana Lifestyles from Replacements

Bread/Butter Plates - "Cinnabar" Fiesta by Homer Laughlin from Replacements
Baseball Napkins and Burgundy colored Napkins - Handmade by Pat

Shooting Ducks Vegetarian Style.....

As promised two weeks ago, Pat set the table this week with "people like me" in mind. No duck calls, no shot gun shells decorating the table (Here) - just cameras and binoculars to shoot ducks. Pat used the same dinnerware as before ["Quintessential Game" by Queen's China], but made it a bit more dressy and a lot more "animal friendly."

Last time, Pat used antique gold chargers - this time she used the matching antique silver chargers that she bought from Tuesday Morning.

Pat layered a Fiesta "Periwinkle" chop plate to add color (that she picked up from the plate). Flatware is ornate 20th Century Baroque by Godinger Silver.

The crystal water goblet is "Navarre" from Fostoria. Pat added a silver wine glass.

Using blue cellophane to simulate water, Pat added white net to soften the look.

Stendhal Syndrome

This week's table is set in another Autumn theme - filled with pumpkins and gourds - to show our new dishes from Pier 1. Pat couldn't help herself when she saw them (usually it's me that is "weak" when it comes to buying dishware, but lately Pat has been having some serious "episodes" of Stendhal Syndrome. Anyone who tablescapes suffers from this affliction to some degree - you know the symptoms: "rapid heartbeat, dizziness, fainting, confusion and even hallucinations when an individual is exposed to an experience of great personal significance - particularly viewing art or immense beauty." (Check it out here) Hence - anyone who loves dishes and dishware probably suffers from it. )
The table

The charger is from Tuesday Morning - Pat had another "bout" of Stendhal Syndrome when she saw these in both antique gold and silver......naturally, twelve of each color are sitting among our other chargers now......

Pat found the flatware at Tuesday Morning (in Walnut Creek/Concord) two or three years ago. It's "Sofia" Argent by Hampton Forge.

We got these soup bowl pumpkins years ago at Pier 1 - the ones they are currently carrying have more detail, but I like these better.

One of the staples in our "dishware repertoire" - from the Dollar Store

The centerpiece is a mass of grapevine balls, pumpkins and greenery

Close up of some of the tiny pumpkins that Pat and her husband grew especially for tablescaping
