Wintertime Tablescape

Update on my favorite topic to complain about - the weather: As you know from reading the blog, we have experienced some really wacky weather over the last two or three weeks - record ocean waves breaking on the coast, extreme high winds, massive rains, a 6.2 earthquake thrown in the mix, and now intense snowfall at sea level. Temperatures that usually hover in the low 50's (remember this is California) are now in the low 30's (night time colder) here on the coast for days on end and much lower just a mile or so inland. (Here) Yes, just another climate changing day in the Redwoods....

Moving onto tablescaping - this week's table is a perfect expression of cold weather. Pat pulled out plates we bought at Pier 1 a few years ago and quickly came up with this week's table.
Pat started with these "frosted" looking twig place mats from Pier 1 to set the tone of the table

Flatware is shiny stainless steel "Fluence" by Oneida

Glassware is "Midnight Black" by Artland
To continue the theme of "frost" Pat used these "frosted" pine cone stems from Michaels' in an arrangement

From the other end of the table

Where it came from:
"Frosted" Twig Place Mats - from the sale rack at Pier 1 several years ago
Charger - Black "Color Spectrum" by Mikasa from Replacements.com and eBay
Dinnerware - from Pier 1 two or three years ago
Bread and Butter Plate - "Black" Fiesta(ware) by Homer Laughlin from Replacments.com
Flatware - "Fluence" by Oneida from Replacments.com
Glassware - "Midnight Black" by Artland from Target years ago
Crystal Candle Holders - from Pat's collection
Crystal Vase - "Lady Diamond" by Cristal d/Arques-Durand from Ross years ago
Frosted Pine Cone Stems - from Michael's

This week, we will be joining "Tablescape Thursday" at Between Naps on the Porch:  http://betweennapsontheporch.net/

  1. I love the "winter" plates and the placemats are perfect. Craziness going on with the weather for sure! We've had several days of 65-70 degree temps and then last night a cold front came through and we had snow on the ground this morning! I hope your weather calms down and you'll have a very Happy New Year.

  3. Pattern is Pier One Snow Forest. Accent salad/ dessert plates come with woodland animals: fox, deer. The birch trees are great. I'd like this pattern in Fall too and through long WI winters.
