Finally - An Autumn Table

After last week's sweet pastel table, Pat thought we should "beef it up" a bit.......well, more like "duck it" a bit. Here's the table she set:

I love the table - although as a vegetarian for over 35 years, I'm not "wild" about the theme.....Pat's promised to use the dishes again in a less "sports hunting" setting

The dinnerware is "Quintessential Game" by Queen's Potteries (this season at Tuesday Morning.) Flatware is my old everyday ceramic handled "Iron Brown" from Noritake (and I mean old....I've had it 40 years.)

Originally, Pat was going to use our Mother's "good" china for the table. Here's what it would have looked like:

China is "September Song" by Sango. It's not really fancy or expensive, but it sure has memories for us....

Royal Doulton Brienne and Apricot Table

Yes, just about everyone is setting Autumn tables now - of course, we have to be slightly different. This week's table uses a set of very sweet, pastel colored dishware called "Brienne" by Royal Doulton.  We've wanted to use it for quite a while but never got around to it. Yes, the pattern is probably more appropriate for a Springtime table, but it's now or never.....

The table uses a soft shade of apricot

We did not need another set of dishes.....no way, no how, but when the opening bid was $28.00 on eBay, and I was the only person to bid, who could pass that up????? A steal of a deal......and I love them.

Flatware is "April" silverplate

Notice the beautiful rim of the plate in addition to the soft pastel colors - it looks just as good with a baby blue charger.

The chargers are inexpensive lacquer chargers on sale from Michael's that were spray painted with "Fusion" plastic adhesive paint and then hand painted apricot to match the dinnerware (I got a tiny can of "sample" paint - the folks at the hardware store mixed it up right then from a paint chip - just a couple of dollars.....and I have no wasted leftovers.)

Pat recently found these beautiful candle holders at the "Discovery Shop" (the Cancer Society's Thrift Store).

I walked into Pier 1 the other day and lo and behold! They had these beautiful apricot colored candles.....

Remember these??? Anyone who ever attended a "Princess House" glass party years ago would have seen these - "Esprit" crystal water and wine goblets.
