Royal Doulton Brienne and Apricot Table

Yes, just about everyone is setting Autumn tables now - of course, we have to be slightly different. This week's table uses a set of very sweet, pastel colored dishware called "Brienne" by Royal Doulton.  We've wanted to use it for quite a while but never got around to it. Yes, the pattern is probably more appropriate for a Springtime table, but it's now or never.....
The table uses a soft shade of apricot

We did not need another set of way, no how, but when the opening bid was $28.00 on eBay, and I was the only person to bid, who could pass that up????? A steal of a deal......and I love them.

Flatware is "April" silverplate

Notice the beautiful rim of the plate in addition to the soft pastel colors - it looks just as good with a baby blue charger.

The chargers are inexpensive lacquer chargers on sale from Michael's that were spray painted with "Fusion" plastic adhesive paint and then hand painted apricot to match the dinnerware (I got a tiny can of "sample" paint - the folks at the hardware store mixed it up right then from a paint chip - just a couple of dollars.....and I have no wasted leftovers.)

Each place setting had a small pitcher with apricot colored roses

Pat recently found these beautiful candle holders at the "Discovery Shop" (the Cancer Society's Thrift Store).

I walked into Pier 1 the other day and lo and behold! They had these beautiful apricot colored candles.....

Remember these??? Anyone who ever attended a "Princess House" glass party years ago would have seen these - "Esprit" crystal water and wine goblets.

The vintage luncheon napkins were a gift from our cousin years ago

From the other end of the table

We will be joining Christine's "Table It!" Blog Party at Rustic & Refined this Sunday:

We will also be joining Susan for "Tablescape Thursday" at Between Naps on the Porch:

And with a warm "Thank You" to Sujatha at Crystal Grandeur (Here) who let us know about it, we are going to join another wonderful blog party at "Ivy and Elephants" this Wednesday:

  1. What a lovely set of dishes and such a bargain! The apricot is perfect with it.

  2. Pretty table with all the beautiful dishes. The color is soothing . The peach colored roses adds charm and elegance. Love the table mats and the flatware's. Very inspiring and flowers in the middle so very lovely. Plz do drop by my blog too. Hugs Sujatha:)

  3. I am touched to see your comment. I am so happy! that you spoke about the blog over the telephone. The pumpkins and the sun flowers are from our garden. My husband has a love for gardening. The flatware's have a wooden handle, the set of which I picked up a few years ago while I was living in Bombay. The plates are not marble. They are stoneware. They are made to look like a marble. Real marble plates would be quite heavy and so wouldn't be made from it and also has tendency to absorb oil easily . Interestingly there are many beautiful curios made out of marble, made here in India. Always pleasure visiting your blog and love your collections. Have a lovely day. Hugs Sujatha:)

  4. Love your dishes, they are gorgeous, and this is such a beautiful table. Couldn't have matched those chargers any better.
I have some hankies exactly like yours, think I got them at the flea market years and years ago.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful table with us.
    Blessings, Nellie
