Everyone knows that I have none, zip, nada, abolutely no ability to design a tablescape or set a decent table. I usually am "allowed" to set out the flatware - safe, non-breakable and somewhat simple to do. What skill I do have is limited to the ability to spell (usually correctly) and construct a legible sentence (within reason.) So I am relegated (voluntarily, I must admit) to writing up the "spiel" and storing the supplies necessary to set a table for my share of the weekly blog. Pat and now, sometimes, our late brother's granddaughter come up with the theme and design and set the table.
But once in a while I do make a suggestion - like the last six or seven weeks....Let's do a bright, summery floral table with lots of color and gobs of flowers. Bright, light colors that suggest warm summer weather with lots of sun. Maya and Pat started out with a great choice - the accent plate is "Joie des Fleurs" by Fitz & Floyd. It turned into a beautiful, somewhat formal table in shades of cobalt blue, red and gold. Nice but not quite what I had in mind......
The luncheon plate is vintage "Cobalt Blue" Fiesta(ware). It was produced from 1956 to 1951.
The dinner plate is red "Fun Factory" by Waechtersbach.
The gold chargers are from Pier 1 several years ago
The blue stemware from the Dollar Tree is a staple in our tablescaping repertoire
