President's Day Tablescape

President's Day falls on the third Monday in February. While most people think of it as a day to celebrate our first President's birthday (or possibly "throw in" our sixteenth since Lincoln's birthday fall in February), our family uses it to celebrate all Presidents - no matter what political affiliation. Family dinners have become quite a balancing act since we are politically divided (sadly, much more since 2016.) But it is an excuse to get together and as we get older, those times are getting rarer.

While Pat's daughter was here visiting last month, she came up with this week's table.
Of course, red, white and blue...and a little black to tie it all together

Flatware is "Castello" by Godinger
These individual soup tureens came from Pier 1's discount shelf. They only cost $.99 each.
Napkins are blue "Democrat" and red "Republican." The textured glassware reminded Pat of the hammered flatware. The pattern is "Frost" by Libby.
Our Mother's now very old soup tureen acted as the centerpiece.
Where it came from:
Black Place Mats - from Bed, Bath and Beyond years ago
White Chargers - by Bernardaud from Tuesday Morning eight or nine years ago
Dinnerware - Fiesta(ware) - Scarlett and Vintage Cobalt - from Macy's, Kohl's, and Replacements,Ltd.
Individual Covered Soup Tureens- from Pier 1 several years ago
Flatware - "Castello" hammered by Godinger from Costco years ago
Glassware - "Frost" by Libby from Ross years  ago
Large Soup Tureen Centerpiece - from our Mother many, many years ago
"Democrat" and "Republican" Napkins - Handmade by Pat

This week, we will be joining "Tablescape Thursday" at Between Naps on the Porch:  http://betweennapsontheporch.net/
