Our Quarantine Tablescape

Finally! A table to share.....Pat was here to pick up books and drop some off for me to read so she quickly set the table. I was so happy. And what a perfect centerpiece - something we have both been doing a lot of during the COVID-19 quarantine. She selected several books from around my house  and used them to decorate the table and the place settings.

The yellow book on the table that is part of the centerpiece is one of the Little House on the Prairie series - I borrowed the entire collection from my Brother and just re-read them. Not quite the same as the first time I read them when I was in fifth grade.....but still good. (It's been a long quarantine......you can tell.....)

Simple flatware looked best. Pat tried some others but she settled for this pattern.

Pat grabbed my "TBR" (to be read next) stack and used it as the foundation for the centerpiece

Yes, I admit it, I, too, am a Harry Potter fan. You can debate the literary value but, at least, he got millions of kids to read.

From the other end of the table
Where it came from:
Charger - "White" Fiesta(ware) Chop Plate by Homer Laughlin from Replacements.com
Dinner Plate - "Lemongrass" Fiesta(ware) by Homer Laughlin from Macy's
Luncheon Plate - "White" Fiesta(ware) by Homer Laughlin from Replacements.com
Flatware - "Queensgate" by J.A. Henckels from Costco two or three years ago
Water Goblet - from Pier 1 several years ago
Napkin - from Tuesday Morning three or four years ago
Lemongrass Napkin Rings - Inexpensive PVC pipe cut into 1" rounds and spray painted
Books - from our collection

This week, we will be joining "Tablescape Thursday" at Between Naps on the Porch:  http://betweennapsontheporch.net/

Not Tablescape Related:
From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank everyone who sent kind words to us inquiring about our health and how we were doing. It has been a somewhat rough and very quiet few weeks but both Pat and I are doing fine. As you know, we are in the "high risk" category of over seventy and are trying to be cautious. Our first "outing" together was to the garden center. We had a fabulous time. But we missed tablescaping  - so we hope to continue with our weekly get-together if all works out OK.

Please keep safe.

Now, on to another "problem" that has grown while we have been staying at home:
What does one do when you are unable to get out? Can't buy plants. Can't go to thrift stores. Can't go shopping. We read. Lots of books. I found myself adding to my already large collection of books - the internet was a goldmine for inexpensive reading material. (Pat has the same problem - but she has put herself on a "book buying freeze" until she reads the three boxes of books that she has stored under her bed. She has lots of others but her goal is just those boxes.  Sure, Pat....)
My bookshelf end tables in the family room - each shelf  holds four stacks

Just a small bookcase in the family room. I've got to find room for the books on top....

Bookcases at the end of beds in the bedrooms....this one with some nonfiction

Another bookshelf - this one along the wall in  another bedroom
I couldn't take a picture of the room where I store most of my books - my dear sweet brother built me shelves along the entire wall (floor to ceiling) in a small room off the hallway. And it is full. I just couldn't get the camera to work.

  1. I'm so happy to see a post from you! And what a fun, pretty table. I love to read and have been doing a lot of it, too - mostly light, quick reads on my phone with the Kindle app. I have that space problem, too, otherwise. Stay safe and well, both you and Pat!

  2. Dear Ladies - Such a relief to have you back! I'm glad you're both healthy and well. Thanks so much for creating this creative post with cheerful colors. I spot a couple of favorite books: The Book Thief and of course Little House on the Prairie Series and Harry Potter. Stay well and best wishes.
