We are participating in Cuisine Kathleen's Fall "Purple Challenge" this week. So - let's get this out of the way. Here in Humboldt County, we are not famous for our Fall foliage of oranges, ambers, purples, and brown. We are famous for a bit more "green foliage" - it is harvest time here in our part of the Emerald Triangle. Millions of dollars in illegal and untaxed dollars are made - not to mention the horrific hazardous chemical pollution, the killing of innocent wildlife (and some human life along the way), the deforestation of our mountains and hills, the diversion of rivers and streams, and in this drought time, the huge theft of private water supplies. Did I mention the tons garbage and waste materials left at a marijuana site?
To us, it would not be appropriate to feature a "fall purple table" designed around our area.....so we are moving south a little....to the Napa Valley, where it is grape harvesting time. It's lovely there and the tourists are arriving in droves for the annual grape stomping festival.

Of course, Betty had to dress in purple (notice Betty's dog? Pat changed the leash and collar so it would match. As always, attention to detail.....) And yes, that is still painter's tape on the wall. As most of you know, I put it up to show where a painting will go - when I decide what I want. It took me thirteen years to pick out the color of the house. Yeah, I know, I have a "bit of a problem" making that kind of decision.
