Periwinkle and Chocolate Fiesta Tablescape

A few week ago, Pat and I were shopping at one of our favorite - albeit one of our few stores - Ross Dress [and Set Your Table] for Less, when I finally bought these placemats that I have been looking at for a long time. I convinced myself that they were meant for me - that it was a "sign" - since they were still in the store and they were cheap (or as Pat said, no one else would have them......sisters, gotta love 'em.) Anyway, I took them home, and Pat went to work looking for dishes that went with them.

Flatware is "Everyday" by Reed & Barton

Pat first tried brown Clarion goblets by Lenox but they were too dark, so she settled for these mocha colored stems by Libby

Pat chose Chocolate and retired Periwinkle Fiesta since these colors were found in the placemat

First layer of the place setting is a Chocolate Fiesta bowl - one of the most recognizable pieces in the Fiesta Dinnerware line

Try as I might, the colors look washed out. Fiesta Periwinkle is truly a beautiful blue

Even the Chocolate color looks faded. Sorry, but it, too, is a beautiful color

The placemat....OK, I admit it, not to everyone's taste

Pat used brown tapes in crystal candle holders to lighten up the table a bit

Now, this blue really turned out blue......Pat found the candle holders at a little curio shop near her home town

Aubergine, Burgundy, or Amethyst? Tablescape

Whatever color you call it, Pat found a great set of inexpensive "purple" flatware at Ikea in Sacramento last week when she went with her husband to a conference. So began the inspiration for this week's tablescape.

The five piece place setting - the teaspoon is tiny....but they look great on the table

I goofed when I bought these amethyst glasses - I actually needed teal crackled glassware but somehow came home with these (declining brain waves due to old age.......) I rapidly fell in love with them anyway.

Pat started with this gorgeous amethyst colored Depression glass cream soup and liner

The next layer is a White Fiesta Luncheon plate

Then (my favorite Fiesta color) came a Heather Fiesta Dinner plate

Pat used a sleek, coupe charger by Bernardaud

To add just a touch of color to the place setting, Pat layered a napkin under the setting to act as a placemat (the napkins are slightly silky in texture so they were perfect)

The napkin sits on a White Fiesta Bread/Butter plate

The white napkin rings add just the right touch

The tea light matches the color scheme - it is amethyst, also

Depressionware candle holders hold amethyst tapers

Pat made floral arrangements in extra cream soups bowls and then turned the liner over to act as a riser

The centrepiece arrangement sits in a gorgeous amethyst colored bowl
