Quarantined "Trip" to Paris Tablescape

Holy cow!!! What a week this has been. I don't normally like to dwell on what's happening "in the world" but this last week has been something else. Even in our little community, we have seen unrest and protests because of the killing of George Floyd. We are still seeing the number of Convid-19 cases increasing. Add to that, we have seen an increase in the number of earthquakes over the last few months and, for something "special," the drought is back. What else????

Pat was determined to raise our spirits this week - she pulled out a French-themed place mat that we bought several years ago from Bed, Bath, and Beyond (will we ever get that store back after the shut down is over?) and set a simple, sweet table that made both of us smile.
My favorite color is yellow - this table makes me happy.

Flatware is Italian "Vintage Countryside" by Ricci

Pat likes to use glass plates when the place mat is the focal point - these are "Milano" by Pasabahce Glass Co.

Couldn't get more "provincial" than this - glassware is from the Dollar Tree - simple, basic, straightforward design

One last look

Our Quarantine Tablescape

Finally! A table to share.....Pat was here to pick up books and drop some off for me to read so she quickly set the table. I was so happy. And what a perfect centerpiece - something we have both been doing a lot of during the COVID-19 quarantine. She selected several books from around my house  and used them to decorate the table and the place settings.

The yellow book on the table that is part of the centerpiece is one of the Little House on the Prairie series - I borrowed the entire collection from my Brother and just re-read them. Not quite the same as the first time I read them when I was in fifth grade.....but still good. (It's been a long quarantine......you can tell.....)

Simple flatware looked best. Pat tried some others but she settled for this pattern.

Pat grabbed my "TBR" (to be read next) stack and used it as the foundation for the centerpiece

Yes, I admit it, I, too, am a Harry Potter fan. You can debate the literary value but, at least, he got millions of kids to read.

From the other end of the table

Not Tablescape Related:
From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank everyone who sent kind words to us inquiring about our health and how we were doing. It has been a somewhat rough and very quiet few weeks but both Pat and I are doing fine. As you know, we are in the "high risk" category of over seventy and are trying to be cautious. Our first "outing" together was to the garden center. We had a fabulous time. But we missed tablescaping  - so we hope to continue with our weekly get-together if all works out OK.

Please keep safe.

Now, on to another "problem" that has grown while we have been staying at home:
What does one do when you are unable to get out? Can't buy plants. Can't go to thrift stores. Can't go shopping. We read. Lots of books. I found myself adding to my already large collection of books - the internet was a goldmine for inexpensive reading material. (Pat has the same problem - but she has put herself on a "book buying freeze" until she reads the three boxes of books that she has stored under her bed. She has lots of others but her goal is just those boxes.  Sure, Pat....)
My bookshelf end tables in the family room - each shelf  holds four stacks

Just a small bookcase in the family room. I've got to find room for the books on top....

Bookcases at the end of beds in the bedrooms....this one with some nonfiction

Another bookshelf - this one along the wall in  another bedroom
I couldn't take a picture of the room where I store most of my books - my dear sweet brother built me shelves along the entire wall (floor to ceiling) in a small room off the hallway. And it is full. I just couldn't get the camera to work.
