Let's Dish April Challenge

This week, we are participating in Cuisine Kathleen's April Blog Challenge (http://www.cuisinekathleen.com/). The theme is Birds, Nests, and/or Eggs. Pat wanted to try a non-traditional bird tablescape (i.e something other than cute birds, eggs, nests, and bright colors) and this is what she came up:
Over view of the table

The place setting

Flatware is "Grand Colonial" Sterling by Wallace

Close up of the "stack"

First layer of the place setting is a modern square crystal soup bowl

The salad plate was placed across the dinner plate to show it off

Pat used a line-etched water goblet with a black wine and champagne glass

The ornate Depressionware candlesticks hold turquoise tapers that match the dinnerware

To carry the bird theme out, Pat used black wire nest-like basket votive holders and black tea lights

The black wire bird cage holds a flower arrangement

The bread/butter plate is actually Black Fiesta by Homer Laughlin

One last look from the other end of the table

  3. Beautifully done! I haven't seen that color in those dishes (I have the yellow and a blue/white mix). I like the mix of the turquoise with the black. Cute bird card!

  9. I just love black as a neutral!!! It really helps to better showcase all the color used! Pat made a really bold and wonderful decision when she decided to use black with a relatively non-traditional Easter color. It still has a very Easter-y vibe, but a high sophistication, too. Spectacular!!! I like this way of thinking!
