Purple Summer Garden Table

Several months ago, Pat picked up a set of inexpensive dinnerware from Ross. It was called "Vera" by Coventry and then it was put away in my garage for a "future use." Well, today is the day - she pulled it from the storage shelf and came up with this table:

Since the dinnerware and charger are rather "bold" Pat used simple flatware - "Vintage Countryside" by Ricci

This is "Lemongrass" Fiesta(ware) sold at Kohl's as a luncheon plate

Blue and Yellow Updated Oriental Table

Pat set this week's table with an updated Oriental theme:

Flatware is "Sculpt" by Lenox

The yellow luncheon plate is "Rutherford Circle" by Lenox. It has a thin blue line around the edge and the verge line.

Pat used two napkins for each place setting.

More of our Pier 1 bargains this Summer. We bought several of these candle holders from the sale rack.

50th Anniversay Summer of Love Tablescape

For those less enlightened (or those that don't really care), this summer marks the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love where "Flower Children" from all over the world gathered in San Francisco - most particularly, Haight and Asbury Streets. They came to celebrate, to meditate, to protest the Viet Nam War, or any other thing they could think of. (Later, it became less "love" and more drugs, sex, violence, etc. but for awhile......for that brief summer, it was a world of its own.)

Forgive me for waxing lyrical about the Summer of Love. It was a truly different, wonderful time. So much so that Pat wanted to set this week's table to remember it.
Color - lots of color - and flowers set the theme for the table

To my generation, this sign means "Peace" or "Love."

Pat used these "flowers" as a table runner
