Valentine's Day Tablescape

We couldn't let Cupid's holiday pass without setting a tablet to acknowledge his day of romance (or if you are slightly jaded, to acknowledge another day of vast commercialism whereby Americans spend billions of dollars on cards, candy, and jewelry......) Here is Pat's table:

Where it came from:
Red Beaded  Heart-shaped Place Mats - from Target years ago
Dinnerware - "Embossed Leaf" from Maryland China Company (mail order) several years ago but still available
Red Heart Bread and Butter Plate - from a mail order catalog many years ago
Flatware - by Hampton Forge from Pier 1 several years ago
Red Goblets - from the Ferndale Emporium (a local kitchen and gift store) many years ago
White Wine Goblet - by Portieux Vallerysthal from eBay
Heart Napkin Rings - from Pier 1 last year
Flower Vases - "Lady Diamond" by Cristal d'Arques from Ross and TJMaxx
Red Tapers - from Bed, Bath, and Beyond at Christmas time

Black and White Checked Tablescape

No formality here - this week's table is a bit lively and casual with a feel of Winter to it. Pat used an older set of dinnerware that we bought years ago at Pier 1 from the sale shelf. (I'm still reeling from the news that our local Pier 1 is set to close this year - I just about cried when the assistant manager broke the news to Pat and me last Sunday. What a disaster....maybe not a disaster to the pocketbook but still a heartbreak....)

Pat started with leather-like place mats to add a touch of warmth to the table

Flatware is "Primary" by Noritake

This is a "White" Fiesta(ware) luncheon plate

Pat used a "White" Fiesta(ware) Chop Plate for a charger

Glassware is "Midnight Black" by Artland Glass Company

Winter Table in Black and Gray

Soup is on the menu for this week's tablescape. Pat used a favorite set of Pier 1 gray dinnerware that she found last year and paired it with black.
The minute Pat saw this set of dishes at Pier 1 last year, she knew that they would be hers......they have a satin finish with a unique slightly rounded up edge.

The place mat and matching napkin have a gray and tan paisley design. Pat doubled the napkin with a solid black one inside.

Flatware is glossy "Image" by Spode from Tuesday Morning several years ago

One of my favorite glasses - from Pier 1 many years ago

The candle holders are Depression Glass by L.E. Smith Company

Post New Years Modern Table in Black and White

This week's table is set in a black and white theme with simple accent plates that we found this season at Pier 1.
Pat started with fringed Buffalo checked place mats in black and off white

Flatware is "Decision" primastone by Noritake

The dinnerware is a favorite - "Black" Fiesta(ware) by Homer Laughlin

The charger is a "White" Fiesta(ware) Chop Plate

Pat was drawn to the simple design on the accent/salad plates

Once again, Pat got her husband involved in our "obsession" - he took a clear thrift store glass vase that had seen better days  and spray painted it black for us to use on the table
