Old World Italian Dinner Tablescape

When we were growing up, every Sunday was spent at Grandma's house. For dinner, we always had polenta with "something" - chicken, beef, venison. It didn't matter. And Grandma always had cheese, wine, and salami on the table. (Grandpa's home-made salami and wine were stored in a cellar like room - only a few steps down from the kitchen.) In my mind, I can still smell the smells from Grandma's house. What a wonderful and innocent time it was.

For the tablescape this week, Pat decided to update our typical Sunday family Italian meal.

Over view of the table

Close up of the place setting

Pat used large, heavy hammered-like flatware

The five piece place setting

Glassware is from the Dollar Store

Pat recently purchased these accent plates from Pier 1

The dinner plate and bread/butter plate are Paprika Fiesta by Homer Laughlin

These over sized, heavy chargers are perfect for the place setting. They measure 13" across.

Pat made an arrangement of assorted grapes and wine bottle corks for the centerpiece

This vintage wine bottle opener has been in the family for years......

We will be joining Cuisine Kathleen's "Let's Dish" this Wednesday:

  1. I'm heading to your place for Sunday dinner! The table is so inviting -- I love the colors, and the look is a nice blend of modern and traditional. Your grandmother would be pleased! Does anyone still make the homemade salami? That's something I've never had before.

  2. This certainly has the Italian vibe running throughout the table. I love the plates from Pier One. Isn't DT a great place to find much needed accessories!! I love this table, it does say Sunday dinner! xo marlis

  3. Love all of the color of your so inviting table.

When you come to visit, do leave a comment so I know you've been there!

  4. My first visit to your post, and I'm delighted. I see the hand of an artist and a skilled designer.....traits obviously honed over years of growing up in a home where gracious entertaining was appreciated and practiced. Such a marvelous proportion of color and texture to your tablescape. Thank you for your inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay

  5. A charming table that you were fortunate to enjoy. I particularly like the contrasting solids with the patterned plate and the simplicity of the grape centerpiece.

  6. Gorgeous table! Love all the color.
