Mother's Day Tablescape

Listed in Harry Rinker's Dinnerware of the 20th Century: The Top 500 Patterns, Rose Chintz by Johnson Brothers China Company is a sweet and adaptable china. (Harry Rinker listed it in the top 25 patterns of all time.) It can be dressed up for formal occasions or used as everyday tableware. And since our Mother's name was Rose, Pat and I love to use this pattern each Mother's Day to remember her.

This year, instead of featuring the beautiful pink in the roses, Pat emphasized the tiny blue flowers in the pattern,

Close up of the place setting

Silverplate is King James by Oneida (from our Mother)

The place setting starts with a simple tri-fold of two napkins - a vintage white one surrounding a Colonial Blue one

The Colonial Blue napkin shows through in this close up of the detail

Next layer is the Rose Chintz Luncheon plate. You can see the tiny blue flowers that Pat used as the inspiration color for the tablescape

Pat actually used the Accent plate instead of the Dinner plate in this pattern

The charger is Colonial Blue Color Spectrum by Mikasa

Love this stuff - Dishwasher safe.....Yes!!

These fantastic candle holders are by the Abingdon Pottery Company

Pat arranged roses in three crystal "vases" - actually water glasses in the "Lady Diamond" pattern by Cristal d'Arques

These beautiful crystal salt and pepper shakers are over six inches tall

Water and champagne goblets are from Pier 1 last year

One last look from the other end of the table

  5. This table is set with such a sophisticated color palette! I adore the way you used the pinks and blues together. Wow - everything is just lovely! I guess most of us have some pieces of the Rose Chintz pattern. I own the accent dinner plates - all of your pieces are wonderful!

  6. So perfect! Everything pressed...no wrinkles...china beautifully coordinated with candlesticks, and other dishes. I love the way you layered the lace placemats and the napkins. The Roses...just the right color. Most of all, I appreciate the "lightbox" view...I can just click my arrow keys to see each picture a little larger, and really study the details of this gorgeous tablescape. I just said to hubby...if I ever see these Johnson Brothers Chintz dishes at an estate sale, I'm grabbing them! Thanks for sharing with us. My attempts at blogging have stopped dead again, after several false starts. This time, 2 tiny abandoned baby kittens, found behind my neighbor's air conditioner, are taking all my time. We're almost done with feedings every 2 hours, and I'm thankful they are growing and will survive. In the meantime, I'm enjoying seeing yours and everyone else's blogs.

  8. So so pretty, I enjoyed seeing such a beautifully set traditional table with the gorgeous linens and china. Most of my things are very contemporary and brightly colored dishes so this was a real treat for me!
