Lapis and White Fiesta Dinnerware Table

For one of her New Year's Resolutions, Pat wanted to follow the example of  a favorite tablescape blogger, Alma at "The Tablescaper,"  She set only blue and white tables the entire month of January a few years ago (Here) to use dishes she owned but had never used before or to use dishes that she had "in the cupboard" but in a different way. It was really neat!

Pat started with a casual, family-friendly table this week after doing more formal tables the last few weeks, but she used blue and white as the inspiration. Using "Lapis" Fiesta dinner and salad plates, she set the table with our Mother's very old soup tureen and small white pitchers.
The table in blue and white

The place setting starts with the very popular Maryland China charger (that Pat doesn't really like - but I love them)

Flatware is "Image" by Spode from Tuesday Morning

Pat tried several white bowls but settled on this small one from Target - she used a "Lapis" salad plate as a liner

This is a "White" Fiesta luncheon plate to add more interest

Pat's latest purchase from Macy's - "Lapis" dinner plates

You can't beat the Dollar Store glassware

The individual salt/pepper shakers are from Pier 1 two years ago

Mom's soup tureen was the inspiration and centerpiece for the family friendly dinner

Where it came from:
White Charger - from the Maryland China Company (mail order)
Assorted Fiesta Dinnerware - "Lapis" and "White" Fiesta by Homer Laughlin from Macy's and Replacements (the bread/butter plates)
White Mugs and Soup Bowls - from Target and Bed, Bath, and Beyond
Flatware - "Image" by Spode from Tuesday Morning
Glassware - from the Dollar Store
Individual Salt/Peppers Shakers - from Pier 1
Napkins - from TJMaxx last year
Candle Holders - from "Tailwaggers" (a local thrift store that supports Sequoia Animal Rescue)
Silk Flowers - from Michael's
Blue Candles - from the Mercantile Company (a nifty local "general" store)
Soup Tureen and Small Pitchers - from our Mother

  1. Oh my, oh my, oh my: absolutely LOVE the Lapis Fiesta Dinnerware! I can't wait to see all your blue and white tables: my all time favorite color combination. I, too, loved Alma's "Tablescaper" blog. What an inspiration! Have a Happy New Year! Rosie @ The Magic Hutch

  2. Love the colour combination of your tablescape. The blue and white looks perfect for January. The white tureen makes an excellent centerpiece too. Happy New Year!

  3. Another fabulous table setting!! That ironstone soup tureen is definitely the star of the show. Now I'm torn between a blue & white table or another plaid table for next week.
I sure miss Alma's tables, she was one of my inspirations when I started to post my tablescapes.

  4. Where do you store all these dishes. I just finished-well, ALMOST...my kitchen and keep three sets of china and one large set of Fiesta in multicolors which is my daughters. In the dining room I keep my china that is in the cabinet and it is called Old Country Roses by Royal Albert. It is the longest continuously produced pattern in the world I believe. I have no more room. In fact the cupboards are jammed in the kitchen. I have tons of serving pieces too. My linens are jammed into a dresser separating the dining room from the sitting room. And another pantry cupboard is crammed full as are many cabinets. I am out of space. Perhaps my blog can contain photos of my storage when I am done putting away Christmas. Maybe someone can help me figure out how to store more efficiently.
