High School Tablescape

High school..........who can forget? For some, it was a great place - full of fun, friends, activities, excitement. To others, it was pure torture. For most students, I venture a guess, high school was somewhere in between. And I bet it hasn't changed from when I attended (many, many years ago.) No matter, it was a place to learn, grow, and develop loyalties and alliances. Most people remember some if not all of their teachers' names - even after 30-40 years. Many people have the same friends from then. Like it or not, it was and is a profound time.

Since school just started this month in our area, Pat decided to do a tablescape that represented many of our local high schools. She set each place setting with a different school color theme. (Unfortunately, two of the high schools have the same colors so she used the local University as one of the place settings.)

Overview of the table.

Pat decided not to use place mats. She put the plates right on the light maple tabletop.

Eureka Senior High School - school colors are red and green. Home of the "Loggers." Pat used a Shamrock green Fiestaware dinner plate with a red coupe plate by Waechtersbach.

Rival McKinleyville High - Home of the "Panthers." School colors are red and black. Both plates are by Waechtersbach.

Fortuna High School's colors are white and blue. Pat used a simple white coupe plate from Target and a cobalt blue Fiestaware luncheon plate.

Tiny South Fork High in Southern Humboldt County - school colors are blue and gold. Pat used a gorgeous gold plate from Pier 1 and a cobalt blue Fiestaware luncheon plate.

St. Bernard's High School's colors are white and green. Pat used a white coupe plate from Target and Shamrock green Fiestaware luncheon plate.

Arch enemy and biggest rival was/is Arcata High. School colors are orange and black (home of the "Tigers.") Pat used a black coupe plate called "Ebony" from Johnson Brothers and an inexpensive orange plate she found at the local supermarket that matched the school color perfectly.

Little but powerful Ferndale High School - colors are red and white. Simple coupe plate from Target and red coupe Waechsterbach plate make up the place setting.

Last - but not least - Humboldt State University. Home of the "Lumberjacks." School colors are green and gold. Pat used a Shamrock green Fiestaware dinner plate and gold salad plate from Pier 1.

What could be better than Cheer Leader Betty Boop?

A close up of Betty. Give me an "E", give me a "U," Give me an...........

Clear glasses do not conflict with all of the school colors.

Napkin rings in matching school colors.

Chevron folded flags in school colors are used as a table runner.

One last look.

To all the schools - Best of luck this year. And........Go Loggers!!!
