Oktoberfest Tablescape

October 17, 1810 was the date of the first Oktoberfest ever held. Originally to celebrate a wedding and enjoying it so much, the community continued to celebrate each year (with the exception of the time it was cancelled for the Napoleonic War) thru today. Currently, the Bavarian festival attracts over six million people from all around the world and continues to grow even though it can be a bit pricey. The average price for a litter (a little over four cups) of beer - the customary size serving - is around $13-$15. Most attendees drink many, many liters.....

Pat set this week's table using the colors of the German flag and not the time-honored blue and white colors of Oktoberfest. She featured German-made Waechtersbach dinnerware and lots of  traditional beer steins.

Noritake Nanette Tablescape

This week's featured dinnerware is another beautiful vintage pattern that Pat found at a yard sale several years ago. It is Noritake "Nanette" - the cream colored porcelain has elegant urns, flowers, and scrolls on the edge. When I first saw Pat's "haul," I couldn't believe anyone would sell this lovely set of china at a rummage sale - much less asking $30.00 for the set. It had nearly twelve complete place settings and all kinds of extra  pieces including my beloved cream soups. Well, we treasure it.....

Pat gave in to her younger sister with my weird taste and used the "snazzy" napkin rings that I chose and she hates....

The china is really gorgeous - the picture does not do it justice.
