Get Out and Vote Tablescape

We've always been a close-knit, like-minded family except where politics are concerned. We are all very strong believers in the power of the vote - however, politically, we are a mix of Democrats, Republicans, Green Party, and Peace & Freedom. Throw in a Libertarian and an American Independent Party member or two, and you have a truly mixed bag of political ideologies. It does make for a "lively" discussion at the dinner table when we get together during election time if someone inadvertently brings up a "hot" topic. 

Since the Primary Election here in California is June 7th, Pat decided to set the table this week to "bring us all together" without mentioning anything about voting. You'll see how she used red and blue colors (the majority of the family are members of these parties) and only made the party distinction by use of the napkin. It was a fun and quite unique table to set.

Spring Blossom Tablescape

What can be more appropriate for Spring than a bouquet of assorted colorful flowers as the centerpiece to a table? For this week's table, Pat used a flower-filled dinnerware pattern from Pier 1 called "Botanical Garden" and paired it with two small bouquets for a very bright and cheery tablescape. [FYI:  Once again this year, due to a very dry Winter and Spring, we are not watering gardens. Therefore, fresh flowers are a luxury. We used silk....Water rationing is on the way.]

Pat started with purple place mats that she found at Pier 1 on sale years ago for $.49 each. I have had to eat crow many times over them - I made many derogatory and disparaging comments about how ugly I thought they were but they have looked perfect each time she has used them for a tablescape.

Pat paired the "Botanical Garden" dinnerware with a "Mulberry" Fiesta(ware) appetizer plate that acts as a bread and butter plate.
