50th Anniversay Summer of Love Tablescape

For those less enlightened (or those that don't really care), this summer marks the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love where "Flower Children" from all over the world gathered in San Francisco - most particularly, Haight and Asbury Streets. They came to celebrate, to meditate, to protest the Viet Nam War, or any other thing they could think of. (Later, it became less "love" and more drugs, sex, violence, etc. but for awhile......for that brief summer, it was a world of its own.)

Forgive me for waxing lyrical about the Summer of Love. It was a truly different, wonderful time. So much so that Pat wanted to set this week's table to remember it.
Color - lots of color - and flowers set the theme for the table

To my generation, this sign means "Peace" or "Love."

Pat used these "flowers" as a table runner

From the other end of the table
Where it came from:
White Charger - from Pier 1 two years ago but still available
Dinnerware - assorted Fiesta(ware) by Homer Laughlin from Macy's, Kohl's, and Replacements
Lavender Napkins - Handmade by Pat
Flower Napkin Rings - from Pier 1 last year
Flatware - by Cambridge from Ross several years ago
Yellow Goblet - "Rio" by Dansk from Replacements two years ago
Flower Goblet - from Pier 1 five or six years ago

  1. Beautiful table and I love how you are looking back on the summer of love. In a positive way, remembering how it started and how beautiful it was.
