A "Black and White" tablescape is not a typical theme for Spring, but Pat thought it would be fun to play with - so she came up with a simple table for this week's blog that relies more on form than color to make it interesting.
Pat went back and forth about adding some additional accent color (by filling the centerpiece bowl) but in the end, decided she wanted a less "complicated" table and used only black and whiteFlatware is "Primary" by Noritake
The first layer of the place setting is a white soup bowl - this one is from Target's "Home" collection
Pat found these inexpensive accent plates at Ross years ago - then she found similar material and made matching napkins
This is a "White" Fiesta(ware) luncheon plate. It sits on a Black "Fun Factory" dinner plate by Waechtersbach
Always a "go to" favorite (mine - not Pat), the charger is from Maryland China Company
Another "go to" favorite, the glassware is from the Dollar Tree
One last look from the other end of the table
Where it came from:
White Tablecloth and Black Napkin - from Linentablecloth.com (mail order)
Black Place Mat - from Bed, Bath, and Beyond several years ago
Patterned Napkin - Handmade by Pat to match the accent plate
White Charger - from Maryland China Company (mail order)
Black Dinner Plate - "Fun Factory" by Waechtersbach from Tuesday Morning several years ago
White Luncheon Plate - Fiesta(ware) by Homer Laughlin from Macy's (active pattern introduced in 1986)
Accent Plate - Pattern unknown from Ross years ago
Soup Bowl - "Home" from Target years ago
White Bread and Butter Plate - Fiesta(ware) by Homer Laughlin from Replacements.com
Napkin Rings - inexpensive PVC pipe cut into rounds and spray painted with plastic-adhesive spray paint (Krylon Fusion is the brand Pat's husband used)
Flatware - "Primary" by Noritake [1972-1976] from eBay and Replacements.com
Glassware - from the Dollar Tree years ago but still available
Centerpiece Bowl - from Art and Old Things (a local antique store)
Candle Holders - a gift from our Cousin Trev when he was down-sizing his black Depression Glass collection
This week, we will be joining "Tablescape Thursday" at Between Naps on the Porch: http://betweennapsontheporch.net/
The different patterns and textures, from the chargers to the plate stack to the flatware, all combine to make this black and white tablescape anything but boring. Those flowered accent plates are the crowning touch. Such a pretty table!
ReplyDeleteA great table! I'm a Hoosier and in Indiana we often try to use black and white themes on Memorial Day Week-end, at some point, to celebrate the checkered flag used at the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race! Honestly, I love the flatware. I know it came in several colors. I always enjoy it when you use flatware with colorful handles. I don't have anything of the sort, but I want some!
