Nutcracker Christmas

To me, nothing shouts Christmas more than pulling out some of our nutcrackers and decorating with them. (Originally, German tradition/folklore hold that they are symbols of good luck and protectors of home and family. They were functional nut cracking figures designed mostly as soldiers. Today, they are cute, whimsical figures without much purpose limited in design only by one's imagination.)

Pat decided to set this week's table using accent plates that she found at World Market a few years ago.

Pat chose Kate Spade's "All In Good Taste"  sleek handled flatware because it resembled the straight legs of the nutcrackers.

Napkins match the colorful place mats.

The dinner plate is "Scarlet" Fiesta(ware) by Homer Laughlin

The charger is Hunter Green "Color Spectrum" by Mikasa

Pat found these great place mats and matching napkins at Tuesday Morning this year

Large, simple glassware is from the Dollar Tree

The bread and butter plate is from our vintage Fiesta(ware) collection - "Forest Green" was produced from 1951 through 1959.

  1. How timely!
I have a set of nutcracker placemats, and have been looking for large nutcrackers to complete a 'scene'. I found some at Dollar General, 15" and 8" for $8 and $4, respectively! Can't wait to use them later in the month. I do a table a week during December, so fun.

Your table is cute beyond words. I love the mats, and the plates are sweet. You always inspire!
