Academy Awards Tablescape

Since we have never done a table to celebrate the Academy Awards, Pat decided it was about time to test her skills. This week's table commemorates the glamor and glitz that the Awards and Hollywood are famous for.

The place setting

Flatware is "Grand Colonial" by Wallace

First layer of the place setting is black "Color Spectrum" by Mikasa

Pat used a simple, super white coupe dinner plate

The next layer is a very glossy black salad plate ("Ebony" by Johnson Brothers)

The small liner is a Bread/Butter plate

We found these sherbets on eBay - "Mt. Pleasant" by L.E. Smith Glass Co. (1920's through 1934)

This label was still on one of the salad plates that we bought from Replacements.com

Pat wanted to use glitzy glassware and "Lady Diamond" fits the bill

Pat used very heavy crystal candle holders in two sizes

What is more appropriate than a pre-show Martini (shaken - not stirred, of course)?

Black satin-like napkin wrapped in a white chiffon overlay
Crystal votive holders sit on small mirrors for more glamor

Pat used a faux projector spray painted black and movie reels for the centerpiece

One last look from the other end of the table

  1. An absolutely stunning table! Those black sherbet bowls are quite impressive as are the crystal glasses. I would have never guessed those came from Ross. Your collections and variety of pieces are amazing and I'm just slightly "pea green with envy" over your variety of silver flatware!

  3. Oh my how grand! The Oscars are the only one I watch- it's my favorite. Your table theme was really kicked off perfectly with the projector and reals. I love the glam from the mirrored pieces and the black and white dishes are elegant. The beautiful stemware and shimmery napkin rings look lovely with it. This would be a great way to spend the evening watching the academy awards being given out!

  6. Betty looks perfectly attired for a night at the Oscars in her black dress and white feather boa. Using a black and white theme and for the china and stemware is totally classic. The mirrored placemats and the beautiful crystal are the stunning compliments for this dramatic tablescape.
