Nostalgic After-Christmas Breakfast Table

Pat was on quite a nostalgic kick when she chose this week's tableware - "Picnic" by Franciscan, the oversized, mid-century modernistic looking stoneware made in California until the parent company was sold in the 1970's. Famous for its Desert Rose, Apple, and Ivy patterns, these patterns continued to be produced long after the pottery company left California. We started to collect "Picnic" after I was given a plate with wonderful cookies on it for Christmas several years ago by a fellow employee. (The pattern was her Mother's and as it happened, the young "modern" woman did not like it....Needless to say, I wound up with quite a collection after I told her that I like the style. She knew I would take loving care of it and I have treasured it.)
Definitely not everyone's taste, but it does make you smile

Pat used plastic handled Cambridge lime flatware to add more color

The plate that started it all.....

The futuristic looking water goblet is really neat to look at but weighs a ton when filled

I love the salt and pepper set
