Race Car Santa Table

I've always said that inspiration for tablescaping comes from the oddest places and this week is no exception. Several years ago, we were out "thrifting" at various second hand stores in our area, and Pat spotted eight square dinner plates with an unusual pattern. Since they were really cheap, naturally, she bought them "to use sometime." Well, lots of time passed and we were out Christmas shopping two years ago, and I found a Santa for my collection that I just had to have. Pat immediately saw "whimsical  tablescape heaven"......
Here's Race Car Santa.....(just one of dozens from our collection)

Pat mixed racing flags and a Christmas tree

Pat said the "stripe" down the side of the plate reminds her of tire tracks....

Flatware is "Hammered" stainless steel by Godinger Silversmiths

Naturally, napkins had to be "checkered flags...."

From the other end of the table
Where it came from:
Faux Leather Placemats - from Pier 1 years ago
Flatware - "Hammered" stainless steel by Godinger Silversmiths from Costco
Dinner Plate - "Contempo Collection" by Baum Brothers from Cuddly Bear Boutique (a local thrift store)
Glassware - from Pier 1 last year but still available
Napkins (and racing "flags") - from Linentablecloth.com (a mail order company that features lots of tablecloths, etc.)
Small tree and ornaments - from Michael's
Race Car Santa - from Pierson's Building Supply (a local building center that goes "way over the top" for Christmas every year) two years ago

We will be joining the following Blog parties this week:

  3. You ladies absolutely amaze me with the ideas you come up with!! This table made me giggle; it's so creative the way you interpreted that design on those dishes as "racing stripes"!! I loved the Santa and everything else. Just perfect for this time of year. Happy Holidays to you both and thanks for the bright start to my day!! Rosie
