Hibiscus, Charlie Chan and Fiestaware

Pat's been re-reading Charlie Chan novels again. Not only does she reread the famous Earl Derr Biggers books often, she also loves to watch the early film adaptations from the 1930's. So it's no wonder that this week's table features Hawaii's national flower, the hibiscus.

Flatware is "Decision" Primastone by Noritake

You know that Pat loves a bargain. These plates were already on the sale shelf at half price. Then Pat used her "Rewards" coupon and other discounts and got eight of them for under $10 including tax.

Each place setting featured a different colored Fiesta(ware) dinner plate - this one is "Poppy"

Pat used the following Fiesta (from the bottom counterclockwise): Paprika, Shamrock, Persimmon, Sunflower, Evergreen, Tangerine, White, and Poppy

  2. What a gorgeous table! I love all the bright colors, and the black provides just the right balance. The hibiscus is one of my favorite flowers. I'm ready for a trip to Hawaii!

I love old movies, especially the mysteries. I first watched those Charlie Chan movies when I was very young, and even read a few of the novels. They may be outdated and out of step with the present day (like most old movies), but I still remember them as part of my childhood with fond nostalgia.

    1. If it wasn't for your blog's "Mystery Monday," I would have never known about YouTube's great (well, maybe "great" is not the most accurate word to describe them....) old movies that are available to watch. I loved "The Fog" that you described. What fun!
