Nostalgic After-Christmas Breakfast Table

Pat was on quite a nostalgic kick when she chose this week's tableware - "Picnic" by Franciscan, the oversized, mid-century modernistic looking stoneware made in California until the parent company was sold in the 1970's. Famous for its Desert Rose, Apple, and Ivy patterns, these patterns continued to be produced long after the pottery company left California. We started to collect "Picnic" after I was given a plate with wonderful cookies on it for Christmas several years ago by a fellow employee. (The pattern was her Mother's and as it happened, the young "modern" woman did not like it....Needless to say, I wound up with quite a collection after I told her that I like the style. She knew I would take loving care of it and I have treasured it.)
Definitely not everyone's taste, but it does make you smile

Pat used plastic handled Cambridge lime flatware to add more color

The plate that started it all.....

The futuristic looking water goblet is really neat to look at but weighs a ton when filled

I love the salt and pepper set

Rustic Gray and Tan Christmas Tablescape

Christmas is almost here. It doesn't seem possible that this year is nearly at an end - it went way too fast. Pat decided to set one more Christmas-themed table before we close out this year. This time she used her set of gray raised rim stoneware that she bought at Pier 1 four or five years ago along with chargers she found at World Market while visiting her daughter one year.

Flatware is "Pendulum" by Robert Welch

The mango wood chargers have a gray tone running throughout the wood

Pat turned candle ornamentation into napkin rings - she took Christmas candles purchased after season several years ago and wrapped the attached decoration using some of the raffia to a black napkin ring.

Crystal and White Christmas Tablescape

Since we rarely have snow in our area at anytime, a white Christmas is pretty extraordinary, but Pat made up for that with this week's white, crystal and silver tablescape. She used an older mid-century discontinued pattern, "Midnight Rose" by Flintridge China Company, and added Cristal D'Arques' "Lady Diamond" glassware to make a showy and glitzy white table.
Pat started with a glitzy silver runner and crystal-like garland surrounding Santa and white trees.

The dinnerware is unique - it was one of the first patterns to have a platinum trim

The silver and glass chargers sit on mirrored rounds
Pat added the extra tall textured trumpet goblet for more shine

Pink Flamingo Christmas

What could be further from most people's idea of a typical Christmas tablescape than a Pink Flamingo Christmas table decked out with a surfing Santa dressed in flipflops. Hawaiian-style shirt, and straw hat? That's exactly what Pat set this week.
