Easter Is Around The Corner Tablescape

Before you know it, Easter will be here. It's time to set some fun Easter tables. This week's table is bright and full of color.

Orange and yellow.....a bright, sunny table perfect for Easter dinner.

The accent/salad plate is "Lilly" from Pier 1

We found these orange coupe dinner plates at our local grocery store. They were the perfect color.

One of my favorite chargers - this is actually a "Cremax Bordette" Depression glass sandwich plate by MacBeth-Evans Glass Company. At 12" across, it is just a little smaller than most chargers.

Another favorite, the yellow water goblet is "Rio" by Dansk and the orange tumbler is "Sorgente" by Bormioli-Rocco.

No-Table Tablescape Week

Just a brief note to let you know that there will be no table this week, but if the good Lord is willing, we will be back next week. Let me explain......

I was selected for Jury Duty February 22nd - glad to do my part and fulfill my civic duty. The Judge assured us of a swift, fair, and safe trial. All precautions were in place. Masks were required and we were spaced so I did not try to "worm" my way out of a three to four week sensational and horrific trial. That's where the story should have ended. However, in the next two weeks, the County leaders in their infinite wisdom determined it was safe to remove mask mandates and any idea of separation/distance from one another was gone.

You know where this is going.....the day after we reached a decision (after being in a 8x12 foot room for four days of "lively" banter and deliberation) and were excused, I received a call from the County Human Resources coordinator letting me know that one of the jurors has COVID and I should have a test and quarantine myself for five days, then wear a mask the next five days. 

So here I sit waiting out my time. Of the twelve people on the jury, only three of us continued to wear our masks. Because it inconvenienced them and was uncomfortable, the others chose not to. Not one of them would budge on this. Thus, we must all wait because of it. Sorry, I do truly feel sorry for which ever juror has COVID, but I am upset that some people were not considerate enough of others to continue to wear a mask. Of course, being the oldest (I am 72), I was probably more invested in mask and space mandates than most of them. But we must all now pay the price. COVID is real. It is not over yet.

Springtime in Turquoise and Orange

After a very gloomy week (constant overcast skies - and no sign of rain or sunshine), Pat decided it was time to brighten up the mood and set an uplifting table. She chose very colorful dishes that we bought a few years ago from Pier 1 and paired them with coordinating apricot colored place mats. 

This was enough to help brighten the day - colorful napkins, lively dinnerware, and cheerful place mats

It's not often that Pat sets a table without a bread and butter plate

Pat used simple glassware since the pattern on the plate was so "busy"

Spode Delamere Bouquet and Mulberry Fiesta

It's hard to believe that it is almost Spring - don't get me wrong. I am happy to see it but this year seems to be going faster than ever. Maybe it is because I am getting old, or maybe because of all the things going on in the world. Either way, it is time for another weekly tablescaping blog. For this week's table, Pat used a favorite pattern of mine - Spode "Delamere Bouquet" - and mixed it with "Mulberry" Fiesta(ware).

Wedgwood Edme Tablescape

For something different this week, Pat and her daughter set the table using a cream and black place mat for the inspiration. Wedgwood "Edme" was the natural choice for the dinnerware. Called a "true tableware icon," by Replacements, Ltd., this pattern was produced for over 100 years and remained very popular through out that time. It mixes well in casual as well as formal tables.

Pat used just a hint of color on the table - the Armani figurine holds small pink roses so she added small arrangements of roses on each end of the table to complement it
