Seaside Table

Once again, while most of the country is experiencing very cold weather, we have our typical moderate temperatures - albeit wet sometimes - of 50 to 60 degrees. So Pat decided she and I should walk along the Bay this weekend to get in a "little exercise" and soak up a "few rays." (With Pat, a little exercise is at least 10,000 steps on her Fitbit......OMG...my poor flat feet)

Well, one thing that came out of the walk was the design for this week's table.

Pat found the driftwood-like chargers (made from mango wood) at World Market three or four years ago

These great indoor/outdoor placemats were on sale for 49 cents apiece before Pat "cleaned out" her purse of Bed, Bath, and Beyond coupons. And they took everyone of them.....we bought fourteen place mats and paid less than $4.00.

Pat found the "Anchor" flatware by Towle at Tuesday Morning last year

Designed to be a salad bowl, Pat makes double use of this "boat" - she filled it with a net and placed it on a bed of assorted shells.

The matching "boats" are for salt and pepper.

Noritake Momentum and Pink Glass Tablescape

This week's table features Noritake's "Momentum" dinnerware (1991-1999) and assorted pink glass. Pat used Cristal D'Arques-Durand's "Rosaline" glassware with assorted Depression glass to complement "Momentum's" geometric design.

Pink and gray makes a great color combination - Pat used a gray charger to bring out the gray on the salad plate

Yes, we used the flatware on last week's table but it really goes well with this place setting

Not a really well known or popular pattern, "Momentum" is quite versatile with its multicolored diamonds.

This Art Deco-style Creamer and Sugar with handled tray is "Tea Room" by Indiana Glass Company

One of Pat's favorite tricks to make the centerpiece appear larger is to raise it - here she used a MacBeth-Evans "American Sweetheart" large bowl and a sherbet for the flower arrangement.

Goodbye Claret Fiesta(ware) Tablescape

The Homer Laughlin Company just announced that they will be retiring the colors "Claret" and "Tangerine" to make room for the Fiesta Dinnerware's new released color - "Mulberry." Pat thought it would be a good idea to set this week's tables (on this blog and our other one) using the retired colors.

In addition to "Claret," Pat mixed "Rose" and "Ivory" Fiestaware. The bread/butter plate is actually an appetizer plate (Homer Laughlin stopped producing bread/butter plates a few years ago - much to my dismay.)

Since the place setting was quite busy, Pat used a simple arrangement of greenery for the centerpiece.

No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get a "clear" picture of the glassware.
