Happy Birthday to the King

It's that time of year again when Pat "reluctantly" sets a table for me to celebrate Elvis Presley's birthday [January 8th].....yes, a bit different when it comes to tablescape themes, I know, but I do like the "King." This year, she chose Lenox "Westchester" dinnerware and lots of gold.

Flatware is "Antique Baroque" by Wallace Silversmith

Pat placed gold crowns on clear glass plates and decorated them with gold candle rings that she bought years ago

Gingerbread Cookies Tablescape

Christmas always reminds me of Panettone and Gingerbread....when we were kids, we couldn't wait for our Italian Grandma's "box" to arrive from Primo Marca (an Italian bakery store owner who always sent lots of authentic baked goodies to our family at Christmas time.) Grandma would carefully dispense a cookie, candy, or slice of panettone throughout the season until they were all gone. You just can't forget those memories....

Pat decided to set a fun table using Gingerbread cookies as the theme. Here's what she came up with:

Gingerbread Santa came with his own cookbooks, but Pat added a three more.

These authentic looking gingerbread cookies are actually ornaments we have had for years. They sit on a sage "Fiesta(ware)" appetizer plate

Pat really wanted to use these - they have been part of our family's Christmas tradition since we were kids (and we are both in our 60's now.......)
