Rubber Ducky Spa Tablescape

With apologies to Ernie (the Muppet,) we set the table this week with his little buddy who makes bath time "lots of fun" - the rubber duck. Pat spotted them at Target last week and decided that very moment what the theme was for her turn at the monthly Ladies Luncheon table. (I told you she has a very "unconventional" sense of humor.)

The place setting

For the first layer, Pat used a bamboo placemat from Pier 1 as the basis for the place setting

A white Maryland China Company charger 

On top sits an orange Waechtersbach dinner plate

This is followed by a yellow Waechtersbach salad plate

Ready for the spa............

Winter Pinecone Tablescape

Texture is the theme this week - solid stoneware plates, thick plaid placemats and knotty textured napkins. The table is set with cold weather in mind (for us, it is cold - a chilly 50-55 degrees - remember, this is California.) Pat put together a winter tablescape with hot, hearty soup as the main attraction on the menu.

We went out gathering pine cones a few weeks ago (we have mostly Redwood trees in our area, but there are other trees here and there that have pine cones. If I had more time I could tell you about the "adventure." Just heed my advice - don't go pine cone hunting with my sister. Gratefully, I did manage to make it out alive and relatively unscathed....) Anyway, Pat pulled together a few other items and in just minutes had the centerpiece done. Then she got on to the place setting - I think she aced it.

Mardi Gras Tablescape

Mardi Gras (also known as "Fat Tuesday" because many believe that it is the last day you can eat rich and fattening foods before Lent) is tomorrow. Time to start the celebration. What better way than to set the table in anticipation of a very hearty - and dare I say, very fattening meal.

Pat chose the typical colors of Mardi Gras (gold, green, and purple), but added teal to make the table more colorful. Since each place setting is so bold, she decided to make the centerpiece more subdued. She only used candles, votives, garland, and a few masks. It made a very elegant and delightful table.

The dinner plate is a rich gold colored glass one we use a lot.

The napkin ring starts with a simple purple ring (our favorite - PVC pipe cut and spray painted)
